Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars PSP

According to the brilliant handheld-oriented blog Qj.net, the Crazy Taxi franchise will soon be dropping by the Sony PSP. This means, that all you SEGA Dreamcast lovers and the rest of you who criminally ignored (despite obvious reasons) SEGA's marvel, will soon be able to enjoy ridiculous downtown taxi racing in the palm of your hand. Great!

  1. Everytime I think Gnome has peaked, he goes the extra mile and surpasses himself... as those good folks at IGN have noticed, the Dreamcast is rapidly taking on the mantle of the best cosole ever. Not content with re-opening their Dreamcast section and having committed themselves to re-reviewing every Dreamcast title ever published, those cheeky scamps angered the evil overlords at Sony by daring to suggest that the PSP was simply a great big Dreamcast VMU in disguise... Let's review the roster... virtua Tennis PSP? Check! Powerstone Collection PSP? Check! and now Crazy Taxi...

Fuck 360! Fuck Wii! the Dreamcast lives... and it lives right there, clutched in your sweaty palm... disguised as PSP!!!

  2. The PSP is a VMUish Dreamcst in disguise, huh? To be honest it does look the part and the games don't help differentiate them... Then again, all I could say is Long Live the Dreamcast, and Stop Trying to Molest my Wii!

  3. Sorry, I do get a bit partisan at times don't I? I'm suffering from wii-nis envy...

  4. That's ok really, as soon the gods might grant you a Wii. And a lamb.

  5. Finally the PSP is making that wad of cash worthwhile!

I'm disappointed that the release of Sega Megadrive Collection has been put back to next month though. I have it preordered on Play.com!

It's funny how we buy terribly expensive handheld consoles and then wish to play old games on them. There's just something about retro games that goes with the portable genre - even if graphics have been far surpassed in todays portable market.

  6. Well, it's not a matter of old or new really, just a matter of game design quality and developers finally understanding that a handheld is quite different to a home console...

  7. A very perceptive comment Tom... I concur entirely.... Although I would suggest is far truer of the PSP than the DS, as the DS has more innovative gameplay features to exploit and therefore pushes 'new' games such as Wario Ware... However it is also guilty of recycling, e'g' Resident Evil...

To me recycling of retro games on any console is a plus, as it breathes life into classic games that could otherwise fade into the ether...

  8. And an even more perceptive follow-up comment by you Father... May I just ask if RE on the DS was any good? I may? Excellent!

  9. You can certainly ask dear Gnome, although I cannot provide you with an answer...

Firstly, as I flagged up on The Saturn Junkyard this very evening, I've never successfully managed to get into RE on any console...

Secondly, I've not tried it on the DS 'cos it still retails at £25 + second hand... and as it's only a port of an old game, I think its a great big rip off!!!

  10. 25? Wow, that's very steep... Anyway, just wanted to know, as I've only recently failed to even play for more than 5 minutes RE Nemesis on the PC... :0
