The game I've been working on for almost two years, the stop-motion animated iOS debut of indie ensemble Kyttaro Games, Droidscape: Basilica, has been launched on the App Store for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch and is lookng mighty fine (if I may say so myself). You can grab it for $0.99 (it's a launch week 50% off offer) over here:

https://itunes.apple.com/app/droidscape-basilica/id586086388

Droidscape: Basilica is a stop motion animated puzzle-arcade game, set in a dystopian and mystical future, where chronomancers are battling corporations, and players have to guide a hand-sculpted droid through 60 levels. The game comes with a full soundtrack, the afforementioned stop-motion animated graphics, between worlds cut-scenes, exhaustively tested touch controls and the option to play hands-free via our experimental HeadTwister head-tracking technology.

Also the gameplay is pretty unique too, as the game is played in two distinct phases, testing both your puzzle solving skills and your reflexes.

Hope you enjoy it!

Zenobi, the brilliant developer and publisher of indie text adventures for the ZX Spectrum (also for the Atari ST and of some graphical adventures), and the mighty Balrog that still runs the whole show have gone and published three lovely, freeware text adventures for your Android device:

- Behind Closed Doors 5 (direct .apk d/l)
- Behind Closed Doors 6 (direct .apk d/l)
- Bulbo's Unexpected Journey (direct .apk d/l)

You can download each of those humorous, satirical-fantasy romps either from the links provided above or from Zenobi Games. The games are still in beta and run fine, though coming in .apk format, you'll have to manually install them.gnomehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03497613771780431048noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9039992731561152945.post-68225207372397484572013-07-24T21:08:00.001+03:002013-07-24T21:08:21.198+03:00Amiga Games Coming to Android

It's been doing the rounds, but I picked this lovely bit of retro-gaming news up via Polygon: Amiga Games will be publishing a series of classic 16-bit Amiga games for Android devices. So, uhm, better expect 300 odd retro gems appearing on your touch-device pretty soon and let's all hope such classics as Sensible Soccer, Turrican, Superfrog and Shadow of the Beast make the cut.

Well, it's currently iOS only, what with the Android version pulled off of Google Play to get itself fixed, but the slightly awkward, slightly happy truth that the remake of the original Leisure Suit Larry has made it to touch-devices remains. If you have an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and $4.99 you can grab Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded here.

The game itself, a truly traditional point-and-click adventure, is the second remake of Al Lowe's Leisure Suit Larry; a game that itself was a re-imagining/parody of Sierra's Softporn. Now, I personally quite like how Reloaded came out and appreciate both the new graphics and the extra content, but make no mistake. This is a game for the people that loved the original and only them.

Oh, and the Android version should be up again soon too.

I like twin-stick shooters on touch-based devices, I like having RPG elements thrown into my action games, I certainly like the aesthetics of steampunk and would thus really like to see Unnamed 101 happen.

As you may already know, Droidscape: Basilica by Kyttaro Games, will be an ambitious puzzle-arcade game for iOS that will sport unique path-drawing/two-gameplay-phases mechanics, stop-motion animation, an impressively rich soundtrack and a fleshed out sci-fi setting. Well, what you see above is the first trailer of the thing; the story trailer.

As you may also be aware of I've been working on this one for over a year now, so, well, spreading the word would be deeply appreciated.

Droidscape: Basilica will be released for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch very (very!) soon.

No, wise reader, $19.99 is not expensive for an iOS game. Not when it's XCOM: Enemy Unknown we are talking about; the best, richest, most beautiful turn-based strategy game of recent years on any platform and one of the best strategy games ever fullstop. What's more, it's a game that will not only entertain you for dozens of hours, but an excellent port from the world of keyboards and joypads to the highly portable world of touch-screens.

And, yes, this is a radical re-imagining of 1993 TBS classic UFO: Enemy Unknown, that has been brought kicking and screaming into the 21st century, complete with elegant mechanics, stunning graphics and a lovely interface. Oh, and do keep in mind that though changes have been made, they are generally for the best and the tactical bits are the best they 've ever been.

You got to love huge game names, especially as they make site/blog titles seem so ridiculously cumbersome and even more so when said titles have been penned by the mighty Ron Gilbert. What's more, you also have to love (nay, adore) the fact that Scurvy Scallywags in The Voyage to Discover The Ultimate Sea Shanty has just been released for the iPad and iPhone and, I suppose, everything in between.

It's a beautifully illustrated, very polished and wisely designed match-3 pirate musical RPG and thus has a description elaborate enough to match its title. Also, it's the first match-3 I've really enjoyed in ages and the only one to feature 100 hats in it.

Scurvy Scallywags currently costs $0.99, but, if the rumours are correct, this offer wont last long.gnomehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03497613771780431048noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9039992731561152945.post-86669958126159458622013-05-30T16:43:00.000+03:002013-05-30T16:43:39.984+03:00A new, brilliant Bundle In A Box is now live!

Gua-Le-Ni, one of the oddest and most delightfully refreshing games installed on my iPad, has finally done the jump to iPhone and has thus gone universal, which is frankly great news. As I pointed out sometime ago on Indiegames.com the iOS version of Active Soccer is, by far, the best footie game I've played on a phone/touch-device of all sorts. It actually manages to get close (well, within reason) to achieving that Sensible Soccer thing and, long story short, the game has just gotten itself ported to Android. You can grab it over at the Google Play store. It's a mighty fine port too!

Cloanto have been providing us with excellent Amiga emulation over a variety of platforms for more than a few years now and, well, they have finally ported Amiga Forever to Android. As always, the emulator comes complete with licensed versions of the necessary system files and emulates both the A500 and the A1200. Oh, and you can of course load up and play your very own disk images on your device.

I briefly played an early version of Ringrun Circus back when I was testing games for the last IGF and was impressed by the elegance of its core mechanic. Interestingly, a few months later, the game seems to be almost ready for release and looks better than ever. It even sports a lovely trailer to show off its colourful self. So, uhm, whatch it, will you?

The iOS release of Gemini Rue by Wadjet Eye Games is important for more than a one reasons. First of all, this is an award winning, indie point-and-click adventure that will finally be made available to an audience that has a thing for mobile contraptions. Secondly, it's a brilliant sci-fi noir game that has to appear on as many platforms as humanly possible and, finally, it is the very first AGS-crafted adventure game ported to iOS, meaning it has just opened the iOS door for dozens of excellent, indie point-and-clickers.

My suggestion? Why, grab it and you won't only be enjoying a fantastic offering, but also supporting indie adventures on the platform.

A noir, stop-motion animated musical, but also a point-and-click adventure? In black-and-white? With characters that spontaneously burst into song? Yes, yes indeed. That is exactly what Dominique Pamplemousse in “It’s All Over Once The Fat Lady Sings!” by indie developer Deirdra Kiai is all about. And it's unique and smart and charming and you should definitely buy it for your iPad. Or at least give the web-demo a try.

The original Deathchase for the ZX Spectrum is a true action classic. A pioneer in 3D gaming and one of the most impressive and addictive games to ever fit in 16k of RAM. What's more, it's a game that has aged gracefully and thus one that has managed to top all sorts of best-of lists. Happily it's also a game that has been masterfully remade/updated for Android and can be finally enjoyed on the go! For free and without those annoying ads.
Not that the single player campaign isn't an excellent one mind you, but such offerings really shine on multiplayer. So, uhm, buy it, will you?

Glorious visuals, weird humour and wisely designed short levels aside, DRM is one of the very best arena shmups on the App Store and one of the few to support iCade.
