Mr Qwak's brilliant, retro-inspired, beautiful and excellently designed Retro Racing is back (after a few silly problems of bureaucratic nature) on the App Store. Grab it. It remains a refreshingly fun and addictive racing game by a developer that has been providing us with great games since the Amiga era.

Adventure Game Studio PSP
The Adventure Game Studio, as you might already be aware of, is a powerful yet simple to use and very freeware (open source too) tool for creating point-and-click adventure games for the PC. It has already helped with the creation of such masterpieces as Gemini Rue, the Blackwell series, Eternally Us, The Shivah, Snakes of Avalon, Metal Dead and seems to have played an integral part in the adventure game renaissance we are experiencing.
Happily, you can now play all those fantastic adventures on your Sony PSP too, what with the release of the impressive Adventure Game Studio Runtime for PSP. At the time of writing all games made with AGS version 2.50 or higher and running in low resolution are supported.

GemRB brings classic RPGs to Android & iOS
While we were all waiting for the iPad version of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced, dear Gary went on and discovered something rather spectacular: GemRB. It's an open source implementation of Bioware's Infinity Engine that can run on practically anything, meaning that you can also enjoy such masterpieces as Planescape: Torment and Baldur's Gate on your iOS or Android thingy. Apparently, it works pretty impressively too and wont cost you a thing!

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for iPad
We were all more or less underwhelmed by the recent announcement of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, but -truth be said- it could easily turn out to be much more than (I, at least) originally expected. Baldur's Gate does after all remain a brilliant CRPG that does justice to both the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons system and the Forgotten Realms setting. Besides, it hasn't aged a day.
What's more, the developers of the Enhanced Edition have just announced the game will actually be coming to the iPad! It will be released sometime during the summer and we can be perfectly sure that it will indeed be the best RPG available for the platform. Will probably look fantastic too.

Little Big Adventure goes Mobile
Created by the talented people responsible for the original Alone in the Dark, 1994's Little Big Adventure (a.k.a. Relentless: Twinsen's Odyssey) was a true masterpiece. It looked beautiful in its colourful isometric glory, seamlessly combined adventure and action elements, sported a brilliant plot set in a unique cartoony dystopia, introduced us to some successfully innovative mechanics and even provided with more than a few excellent puzzles. Oh, and just like all masterpiece Little Big Adventure hasn't aged a day.
Today's good news then is that Little Big Adventure will be coming to both iOS and Android phones courtesy of retro-porting masters DotEmu. You can expect it to appear sometime during the fall of 2012 and hope the elegant controls have been elegantly adapted for touch controls. You can find out more here and even notice that The Last Express is also coming to an iPhone near you...

Another World 20th Anniversary Android
Following the successful release of the updated Another World 20th Anniversary on iOS, the brilliant retro magicians of DotEmu finally unleashed the Android port of Eric Chahi's classic. You can grab this fantastic new version over at Google Play and enjoy the brilliant new graphics, the multitude of extras and one of the most interesting control schemes ever. Besides, Another World remains a truly excellent, masterfully directed and wildly imaginative arcade-adventure that hasn't aged a day.

Mass Effect 3 Datapad (iOS)
If you are playing Mass Effect 3 and own any iOS device, things are pretty simple: you have to download the Mass Effect 3 Datapad. Despite its slight shortcomings, it generally is a lovely little app that will let you receive news from the Alliance News Network, access the Mass Effect codex database, browse videos and even deploy troops throughout the galaxy. Besides, it's absolutely free to grab!

Uplink might go the Android way
It was back in 2001 when British indie dev team Introversion released its first (and some might say best) game: Uplink. It was a graphically simple yet elegant and unique offering, and one of the very first indie games that actually managed to gather some mainstream publication support. It was, after all, such a fresh and excellently executed idea. A brilliantly atmospheric hacking game, that despite being easy to get into felt surprisingly authentic. Or, well, as authentic as, say, a very good space-flight sim.
Now, as you may have guessed Introversion might just have plans to port Uplink to Android, which is frankly a pretty brilliant idea. They did say so in their 500th tweet, though nothing is apparently set in stone. Then again, I don't remember Introversion ever teasing without actually trying to accomplish anything, so, well, hopes should be high. Oh, and do find out more about Uplink and give its demo a try here.

Lords of Midnight goes mobile
Anyone old enough to remember the ZX Spectrum RPG/strategy epic that was Lords of Midnight should be delighted to know that its release (a remake actually) on the iPhone and iPad (who knows, maybe even Android too) is coming closer with each passing day. And the latest video released by its developer is too promising. Yes, despite the placeholder bits and the blurry video quality. Anyway. Find out more about the project and follow its development over at the ice-blog.

Deflektor: the Android remake
The original 1987 Deflektor, a truly classic puzzle game released for the 8-bit and 16-bit micros, is one of those vintage games that haven't aged a day. Not when it comes to their gameplay at least. Rotating mirrors to deflect a beam while avoiding mirrors not only feels fresh, but actually ideal for mobile gaming. Especially when accompanied by shiny new graphics.
The Deflector Remake for Android you can grab over at the fancy new Google Play for free is a remake that does exactly this. It provides the original Deflektor with new graphics, touch controls and online hisghscore tables. What's more, it includes all 60 levels of the original.

Ovine By Design presents Quantasm
Rotate, fire and progress through a multitude of unique levels with the latest release of dear indie studio Ovine by Design: Quantasm. Sporting unique mechanics, an excellent score system, psychedelic graphics and some frantic action, Quantasm is one game you really shouldn't miss. Besides, it's so very cheap, it's absolutely worth a go. Oh, and the app has been designed for both the iPhone and iPad too!

An Android Robotek
Robotek is one of the most popular free games for Android phones and one of the few freebies that properly support online multiplayer. What's more, I've been playing the thing for hours upon hours and can't help admitting that it's a truly excellent take on the strategy genre, especially when said genre has to be radically simplified for gaming on the go. It might overly rely on ones luck, but the excellent graphics, readable logic and overall polish make it a mandatory download. Grab it for free here.

Traveller AR (iOS)
I have to admit I haven't tried Traveller AR for the iPhone, but have actually been playing Traveller RPGs and CRPGs for way over a decade now, and have always thought Traveller to be an excellent roleplaying system set in a very well realized sci-fi world. I can't thus help by suggest you have a look at the Traveller sci-fi MMORPG that has recently appeared on the App Store and is promising everything you could ask for. Just be prepared to heavily use your GPS and internet connection...

Qwak's Retro Racing (iOS)
The excellent developer that brought us Qwak on everything from the Amiga to that phone thingy by Apple, has released something spankin' new. Something you should be very excited about. Something aptly named: Retro Racing. It's a brilliant racing game that's been perfectly designed around the limitations of a touchscreen device, sports some lovably chunky retro-esque visuals, supports two-player split screen action (on iPad) and is actually incredibly fun to play. And very addictive too.
Grab the Retro Racing universal app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch over at the App Store. It's dead cheap and absolutely worth your time.

AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration)
Have recently (and belatedly) been playing a lot of AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! on the PC and I couldn't help but notice it would make a brilliant mobile game. Apparently developers Dejobaan Games thought the same and went on to create a shiny, feature-packed, tilt-based version of the game for the iPhone and iPad. You can grab it over at the App Store. It's pretty amazing.
Oh, and should you have missed what the game is all about, well, it's about twitch-arcade base jumping, and it's amazingly fun. Doesn't look too bad either. Almost on par with the PC version.
