Scurvy Scallywags in The Voyage to Discover The Ultimate Sea Shanty

You got to love huge game names, especially as they make site/blog titles seem so ridiculously cumbersome and even more so when said titles have been penned by the mighty Ron Gilbert. What's more, you also have to love (nay, adore) the fact that Scurvy Scallywags in The Voyage to Discover The Ultimate Sea Shanty has just been released for the iPad and iPhone and, I suppose, everything in between.

It's a beautifully illustrated, very polished and wisely designed match-3 pirate musical RPG and thus has a description elaborate enough to match its title. Also, it's the first match-3 I've really enjoyed in ages and the only one to feature 100 hats in it.

Scurvy Scallywags currently costs $0.99, but, if the rumours are correct, this offer wont last long.

Gua-Le-Ni goes universal; yes, it does.

Gua-Le-Ni, one of the oddest and most delightfully refreshing games installed on my iPad, has finally done the jump to iPhone and has thus gone universal, which is frankly great news. The cube-spinning, monstrosity-spawning, cryptozoology thingy can be grabbed over at the App Store.

Android Arcade-y Fun with Death Ray Manta

Brilliantly explosive and quite frankly stunning arena shmup Death Ray Manta has finally ported its laser-bearing self to Android. Grab it for almost nothing over at Google Play and see if you can actually beat it. Oh, and, yes, it's highly recommended this one.

The Active Soccer Android

As I pointed out sometime ago on Indiegames.com the iOS version of Active Soccer is, by far, the best footie game I've played on a phone/touch-device of all sorts. It actually manages to get close (well, within reason) to achieving that Sensible Soccer thing and, long story short, the game has just gotten itself ported to Android. You can grab it over at the Google Play store. It's a mighty fine port too!

Amiga Forever Essentials for Android

Cloanto have been providing us with excellent Amiga emulation over a variety of platforms for more than a few years now and, well, they have finally ported Amiga Forever to Android. As always, the emulator comes complete with licensed versions of the necessary system files and emulates both the A500 and the A1200. Oh, and you can of course load up and play your very own disk images on your device.

Ringrun Circus Trailerised!

I briefly played an early version of Ringrun Circus back when I was testing games for the last IGF and was impressed by the elegance of its core mechanic. Interestingly, a few months later, the game seems to be almost ready for release and looks better than ever. It even sports a lovely trailer to show off its colourful self. So, uhm, whatch it, will you?

Gemini Rue released for iPhone & iPad

The iOS release of Gemini Rue by Wadjet Eye Games is important for more than a one reasons. First of all, this is an award winning, indie point-and-click adventure that will finally be made available to an audience that has a thing for mobile contraptions. Secondly, it's a brilliant sci-fi noir game that has to appear on as many platforms as humanly possible and, finally, it is the very first AGS-crafted adventure game ported to iOS, meaning it has just opened the iOS door for dozens of excellent, indie point-and-clickers.

My suggestion? Why, grab it and you won't only be enjoying a fantastic offering, but also supporting indie adventures on the platform.

Dominique Pamplemousse iPaded

A noir, stop-motion animated musical,  but also a point-and-click adventure? In black-and-white? With characters that spontaneously burst into song? Yes, yes indeed. That is exactly what Dominique Pamplemousse in “It’s All Over Once The Fat Lady Sings!” by indie developer Deirdra Kiai is all about. And it's unique and smart and charming and you should definitely buy it for your iPad. Or at least give the  web-demo a try.

Deathchase remade for Android

The original Deathchase for the ZX Spectrum is a true action classic. A pioneer in 3D gaming and one of the most impressive and addictive games to ever fit in 16k of RAM. What's more, it's a game that has aged gracefully and thus one that has managed to top all sorts of best-of lists. Happily it's also a game that has been masterfully remade/updated for Android and can be finally enjoyed on the go! For free and without those annoying ads.
